This is a wonerful story. I love Skeeter’s quest to tell about the lives of the maids and her dedication to getting the project done at all costs. I think the characters are terribly over-drawn though. The maids are just too wise and clever, and their employers are just plain evil. While I’m sure there is a degree of truth there, it’s a bit over the top for me. Although I never lived in the South, I grew up in a time when I remember lynchings. A great read for Black History Month.

Once again, gilding the lily, but this book should get 5 stars overall. So that is why I am rating it. I could not put this book down. The honest, no-nonsense style of writing is compelling and addicting. When I finished it, like my youth, I was melancholy that it was over.

This is the second Hoover Tempo vacuum that we have purchased and the first is still running strong. The main reason for purchasing was because of the Tempo’s ability to pick up dog hair. It does a great job at this even after many years of use. Our old Hoover Tempo still does a great job cleaning the carpets and tile. The vacuum comes with hand nozzle and the standard attachments. Belt life is fairly standard with other vacuums that we have owned and durability is quite good for being mostly hard plastic. On our older Tempo, we have replaced the brush roller and something to do with the surface height adjusting. I believe one or both of these repairs were covered on the warranty. The only addition we have had to add to the vacuum was a 12 foot extension cord. Easy to store and easy to use makes this a great buy in a vacuum.

I bought this rack a few months ago. So far it’s worked great in a tight spot when its a must I carry something extra in tow, such as extra books from the library. Official and nice looking and it’s very light-weight. Easy to assemble on the bike. My only drawback is that it moves a bit if you don’t give it a firm twist of the screw. I’m OCD when it comes to things looking perfect and lined up on my bike.

I picked up Twilight by Stephenie Meyer last year during one of Borders’ Buy 2 get 1 promotion (I know this because the sticker was still on the cover). At the time I knew nothing about the book but I was intrigued by the premise and so picked it up. Since that time this book has become a phenomenon among teens and adults alike (at this posting there were 4500+ copies cataloged on librarything). One of the main reviews on Amazon even calls Twilight “an exquisite fantasy.” On Librarything, Amazon and Barnes & Noble this book was predominately rated at 5 stars. So by the time I got around to reading to this book I was excited thinking that I had a real gem of a tale to sink into.
In fact, Twilight left me stunned…but not in a good way. Not in the “oh my this is one of the best books that I have ever read” sort of stunned. Instead all I kept thinking about was that the main character Bella, who is the narrator of the story, was obsessed. When Bella first moves to Forks, Washington and first encounters the eningmatic and overly beautiful boy Edward Cullen she is intially put off by him….mainly because he has such violent reactions of mood when he is near her. This dislike that Bella has for Edward only lasts a chapter or two before she is drawn to him. He is so handsome after all, how can she not fall for him? Even though initally he is very rude and mean to her. Yet still she yearns for Edward. Then, all too quickly, when Edward starts to loosen up and start to really charm Bella her yearning turns to a deep and all consuming obsession with him. So much so that it isn’t long before she wants to spend every waking moment with him…..and that anytime apart is pure agony.
Overall, this book scares me. This is a book that many young teen girls are picking up and devouring and thinking that its a true love story. That Bella and Edward are as star-crossed as Romeo and Juliet. That their relationship is something to look up to…..to emulate. When in fact its far from

Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6″ Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)
I’m Italian and I live in Switzerland. I use to read English book, since my kids attend an American School and I want to improve my knowledge of the language.
The very first time I saw the Kindle, I started to dream about having it: it is so difficult to buy english books here and having to wait for Amazon’s delivery every time you want to read a new book is always frustrating.
I ordered Kindle on friday about noon, I had it in my hands on monday morning! I followed my Kindle’s trip on Amazon web site almost every hour: it was exciting! No problem at all with the costumers nor with the delivery. Great service.
I love it: not so easy to use at first sight as I supposed, but after a couple of hours you just forgot you do not hold a true book. I just miss the sensation that a true book gives you in knowing at first sight how many pages are due to the end of it, but I suppose I will get used to it.
The only real problem is the flash you see when changing the pages… something that have absolutely to be improve in some future versions.
Very easy to buy books and easily delivered to Kindle.
Thank you Amazon!

A story about doing the right thing and protecting those who can’t protect themselves (animals or people). This novel had me hooked from the beginnning. Your heart will swell and break and swell again, but you won’t be dissappointed.

I’ve just read the first one and am off to devour the second. Despite the fact that he’s 12, Artemis Fowl is funny, smart, and encompasses all the human failings an adult story should. I especially enjoyed Butler, with his obsessive need to protect his charge and his wickedly effective and funny ways of doing it. Juliet, his sister, annoyed me but added to the overall effect of the Fowl household.
Holly Short, the fairy LEP officer kidnapped by Artemis, was far from the all-knowing fairy folk we’re used to, and in fact this story makes consistent fun of many of the old tales. Makes fun of and expands on their stories, actually, producing a new world to enjoy.
The supporting cast is generally well-rounded, if a bit stereotyped and I hope Mr. Colfer will expand on each of them. All in all, very enjoyable and I look forward to the rest of the series.
