I love Skeeter’s quest to tell about the lives of the maids and her dedication to getting the project done at all costs. I think the characters are terribly over-drawn though. The maids are just too wise and clever, and their employers are just plain evil. While I’m sure there is a degree of truth there, it’s a bit over the top for me. Although I never lived in the South, I grew up in a time when I remember lynchings. A great read for Black History Month.
