Michael Gambon plays Maigret with confidence and, other than all the British accents, looks very much the part. The stories are interesting mysteries and cause much confusion for the players and the viewers. If I could fault anything it would be that, perhaps due to time constraint, the plots are resolved very quickly – and not always completely. The viewer is occasionally left scratching his or her head wondering how Maigret reaches the conclusions he does. That said, I always anticipated the next episode and seeing Maigret again. He quickly becomes familiar and like a friend or colleague.
It is also nice to recognize actors we have seen in other mystery series such as “Frost”, “Prime Suspect”, and “Cracker”.
Overall the series is entertaining and displays colorful country scenes when Maigret gets out of Paris (or is it Prague?). The complete set is reasonable priced and I only regret there are not more episodes in the series. Not the best I have seen, but pretty good and recommended.

It is, in fact, a six-foot long HDMI Cable that does exactly what it says it does.
Won’t make you breakfast in the morning, though.

FIRST THOUGHTS: 4 EXCELLENT WAR FILMS ON DVD THEMATICALLY COMBINED INTO 1 SET
This set came to me as a gift from one of my sons about 4 years ago. He found it at Sam’s Club and he paid about 30 dollars. Each one of the films included are films I really wanted so the set has been a ‘reel’ treat for me.
IN A NUTSHELL: SAVE $17. ON THIS SET VERSUS PURCHASING INDIVIDUAL TITLES FROM AMAZON
Within a nice outer slipcase you get 4 classic DVDs in their normal DVD packaging and wrappers. These are all releases that you can purchase seperately, but it is a little less costly to get the set. ‘Patton’ is a 2-DISK set that sells for $14.98 from Amazon, ‘Tora Tora Tora’ is $12.98, ‘The Longest Day’ is an edition no longer available directly from Amazon, but several Amazon sellers are offering it New from $15.98, and ‘The Thin Red Line’ is $9.19 directly from Amazon. It comes to over $53. plus shipping [depending on whether you get all the titles from Amazon or from vendors]. If you buy this set the shipping is free [over $25.] In essence, one can save $17. [as of today] buying this set rather than buying the individual titles, which is significant as these are not promotional DVDs and do in fact have all the ’special features’ available on the individual titles.

There are already a pile of glowing reviews on here so let me sum this up quickly.
It’s true, you WILL read more just by having this device.
Things like reading and eating at the same time are much easier because you don’t have to hold a book open with one hand.
The additional features like the experimental web browser also come in handy when you need to search something quick on Wikipedia.
The dictionary integration is fantastic. With some of the psychology books I’ve been reading lately it helps me broaden my vocabulary!
British Inspiration A Collection
Sara Gruen spins a fascinating tale of murder, love, obsession, and life in Water for Elephants. The characters were interesting and well developed. Her portrayal of the elderly was spot-on without being stereotypical. That’s a very difficult thing to do; not many authors are capable of unraveling the story of an elderly character.
Her portrayal of circus life is intriguing, and the characters never failed to invoke strong feelings of endearment, horror, amusement, or pity. I wouldn’t call this a “must read,” but it is definitely an interesting story that was well written and well researched.
Columbus Unforgettables A Collection
About one third way through the book, I started dreading when it was over. This book transports you to the dark secrets of a circus, bright and attractive visuals, love, hate, and a character that transforms before your eyes!
The author has a wonderful way of being concise, yet still making the story come alive with great detail.
I LOVE THIS BOOK. I cried when it was over BECAUSE it was over. It is my favorite book and all of my past favorites are classics. I am afraid that I will never find another book filled with the elements I like again.
If you are attracted to the past, history, the circus, a little non-cheesy romance, READ THIS!
