Definitely a great bike for the price!. For [...] you can’t beat this bike! Granted, it’s not near as light as the bike shop mountain bikes, but it’s also a fifth of the price. I couldn’t find another bike for under [...] that had dual suspension AND dual disc-brakes. Now, the partial assembly could have been better, though. Out of the box, the front fork was on backwards, and the derailleurs were totally out of tune! But the front fork was as easy as loosening the nut and turning Mongoose Status 26-Inch Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike around, and the local bike shop tuned the derailleurs for [...] so I now have an awesome bike for right at [...] Overall a great purchase!

Not bad for price…but plan on doing some work. I bought this bike new from my local store on sale for $180 dollars. I figured a full suspension, aluminum frame bike with disc brakes for $180 was a deal I couldn’t pass up. I wish I would have.

After taking it home and doing an initial setup on the bike (adjusting suspension droop, brake pad clearances, etc.) I took it out for the first ride. I use the bike primarily as a commuter, but take it to the local trails on the weekend. The bike preforms as expected on the streets, but the rear suspension was a little weak for my liking. The bob while pedaling hard uphill takes away a lot of your power to the ground.

After my first ride, I got the bike home and did a second check on it (mind you, this is still the first day). I am meticulous with cleaning and checking my bikes after every off-road session. I found the rear derailler was loose. I took it off of the bike and found that the bike shop that assembled the bike did not use any lock-tite on the bolt. This is not a problem with the bike, but the bike shop. I decided to check all of the fasteners on the bike…same problem.

I have now had the bike for about 5 months and it is serving me pretty well as a daily commuter. I have found that as long as I do the maintenance on the bike, everything is holding up pretty well. The problems that others have had with deraillers not working and brake rub have not been an issue for me.

So you may be thinking, why did I rate the bike a two? Pretty simple, really. The weight of the bike and quality of the components leave something to be desired. I have had to replace all of the bushings on the rear linkage twice in the six months that I have owned the bike. Since I have only gone off-road with it three times, this is more often than I should have to replace them. The rear seat post has a tendency to slip down slowly no matter how much you tighten the clamp. I replaced the seat post and clamp and now have no problems. The seat that comes with the bike is uncomfortable at best. I changed that to a Sette saddle (not one of the big cushy seats) for a more comfortable ride. The rear wheel hub is weak. If you buy this bike, plan on upgrading that as quickly as possible.

Even though I only paid $180 for this bike, I have now invested well over $300 in maintenance and/or repairs. I would have been better off getting the Cannondale hard tail they had on sale for $350. Oh well, better luck next time.

Fantastic bike!. Well, after a long time of researching various bikes, I bought this one. I couldn’t find another bike that looked as good, or had as many of the same features as this bike, at the same price point. The bike came mainly assembled, took about an hour to assemble fully and adjust everything to my liking. Took it for a ride and everything works perfectly.

The bike looks like I spent a helluva lot more than I did too. Only thing is the seat is a bit uncomfortable, I’ll be replacing it soon, but you can say that about most bikes.

GMC Topkick. This bike is phenomenal, i enjoy riding GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike AFTER i assembled, i do not reccomend this bike to people who are begginers to the world of Mountain Bikes. I found NO assembly instructions for this bike inside like many others. Luckily i have assembled bikes before. When i opened the bikes packagind it wasnt the best box,I believe it was handled poorly. When assembling the bike i noticed the Disc Brakes took ALOT of tweaking. My rear disc break was not properly fit for the bike, OR shipping bumped it and damaged the rear disc, causing it to bend and mechanical failure. I found myself NOT using the Rear Brakes anymore,it was rubbing on the caliper constatly making a noise and slowing me down. I decided to just take off the top and tie back the wire. I reccomend looking into a more exspensive shipping unless you want bent parts. Its a nice bike, but small things like that make the company look poor in the eyes. So i reccomend looking into an inch smaller Rear Disc Brake. A good bike that needs a little more than assembly. Hope my review helps Customers!!

Worth The Money…. I bought this bike because it had pretty good reviews…and honestly, at 200 lbs. I needed a bike just a little more heavy duty than what was available in a dept. store…When it got delivered, I was quite impressed with the overall build and features of the bike. With dual disc brakes (that work great), quick release hubs and seat post, heavy duty V-rims… shimano componants…it really is quite a nice bike for the price. I’ve seen many argue that you should go to a bike shop for a bike…well, I looked around, you can expect to pay between well over $1000. to around $7000. for a dual suspension bike. GET REAL…I only paid $5100. for a brand new Honda XR-650 (motorcycle)…I’ve ridden this bike many times now without any problems. Keep in mind, however, that most bikes will need to be “fine tuned” when put together (brake adjustment, derailleur adjustment)These are very simple to do…If you arent sure, go to YouTube…you can find how-to videos there. All in all, I would surely recommend this bike to a friend if you are looking for something just a little nicer than your average dept. store bike.

Great. This is a great bike.

However, the shipping dented the chain and it costed me 40 dollars to get it repaired/new one. I called amazon and they gave me a refund for the money i had spent in no time. I have to say, amazon customer support is great (at least off holiday season).
