The best word I can use to describe how I am feeling after reading this book is overwhelmed. First of all, I am an avid reader, but mostly of biographies. Occasionally I get bored and want to sink my teeth into (no pun intended) a good piece of fiction. There are book lovers at my dentist office. Mostly we discuss Harry Potter, but on more than on occasion, people were mentioning the “Twilight” books. My dentist said that when his wife started reading these books she kind of neglected the family for awhile, such was her passion for devouring them. I like the idea of reading a “saga” of books; Lord knows I adored Harry Potter. When I read in an advertisement for the “Twilight” books ‘Move over Harry Potter’, I decided to put the lot of them on my Amazon Wish List. Once I started reading the first book “Twilight”, it was like it took over my life. I took the book everywhere so I could read it as much as possible. I read it on the bus, before I punched in at work, my lunch hour, in between caring for my son, etc. I usually take a long time to finish reading a book. Well, I finished ALL FOUR books in the saga within about two weeks! This is utterly unheard of for me. Secondly, I never want to re-read a book. I used to do that when I read books as a child, but I guess now that I’m older I feel like life’s too short and I should move on to the next book. Well, I am now reading the first book for the third time! The critical point to the appeal of this book is the central character, Edward Cullen. If he was a human you would say, “What a beautiful human being he is, inside and out!” But, he is forever a 17 year old vampire. Because he was actually born in 1901, he has a lovely way of speaking- genteel, knowledgeable and respectful. The dialogue in this book is delicious, riveting and oh, so satisfying. This is an incredible, old-fashioned love story which just happens to include a vampire. If you read this book, you will fall in love with Edward too-

good for young learners. not great but good. think the age markings are a bit off,my kindergarder is almost past LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game: Disney Princess – Belle & Ariel but still enjoys it.
fun game, even better once modified. This is a great “travel” Monopoly game. The one remark I want to make though, is that there are probably too many “money” cards and not enough “rent” cards. In other words, the money supply seems to far exceed the money demand in this game.
So, what you normally end up with, are the losers of this game finishing with a ton of money in their banks because they never had to pay out much — not very realistic to have losers who are very wealthy.
To fix this problem, buy two of these games and take all the “rent” cards out of one game and add them to your other game. This will make money a more valuable resource since the increased # of “rent” cards will present a larger danger to each player’s bank.
This will also have the effect of rewarding players who lay down property cards so that they can collect rent from them — the whole reason that you want to own property (and play the game of Monopoly) in the first place, right?
I also think this increases strategy somewhat because Hasbro Games Monopoly Deal Card Game puts you at a decision between using your property to collect valuable money or hoarding the property in your hand to keep it protected. As the game is now, it’s pretty much a no-brainer that, of the three types of cards, the property card is the last type you want to lay down (unless you have very powerful action card).
More complicated than Learning Resources Funny Phone Family Game should be. The Funny Phone had the potential to be an awesome toy. Such a neat concept. In reality, it’s kind of complicated. The phone talks a LOT which burns batteries and can bore the kids who just want a clear command or prompt to keep the game moving. There is also a whole bunch of dialing you have to do in this game. First you dial a 7-digit number from a list that connects you to one of 10 different places you may want to call (toy shop, library, pizza place, etc). There’s an answer on the phone, which is usually very silly, and then you have to dial again a number between 0-9 to get the actual challenge. You do the challenge (pretty easy), then dial again to check if you answer was correct. If so, you can get rid of one of your tokens by feeding it into the phone’s mouth (the player who first gets rid of all their tokens wins). Then you move on to the next player and again, a bunch of dialing ensues with a lot of talking by the phone. I wish the phone would talk less and there would be less dialing. As it is, there is not so much for the kids to do in between.
That said, so far my kids do love the Funny Phone (they just got it yesterday so it is a novelty for them). My kids are 3.5, 6 and 8. They don’t really want to follow the instructions of the game (for the afore-mentioned reasons: the game doesn’t have a good flow) but love just dialing the numbers and getting responses. I also see them using it as a regular phone toy (pretend calling friends etc). It’s a colorful, attractive toy and seems to be durable. As a GAME, it could have been designed better. I also shudder to think how many batteries it will burn in the long run.
Should you get it? Why not, but not for full price. I got it for ten bucks and am pretty pleased with that deal.
ONE WEEK LATER: The kids don’t play with this toy anymore. The game is not that fun. The phone sits in the playroom and is sometimes used as a regular phone toy, but no one is interested in playing the phone game anymore. I am removing one star from my original rating.
If you love Spongebob…this if for you!!. This is a great game. I even was playing LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game: SpongeBob SquarePants Saves the Day and getting excited. Its great educational and lots of fun too.
Disappointing….. I played this game with my daughter and Twilight Board Game is very disappointing. First, the instructions are lacking in information and not clear on how the game is to be played. There is no mention of playing in teams – human vs. vampire. I only found this out by Googling the game. Second, there are many typos on the challenge cards. It is like they didn’t take time to review this product for quality before production. Third, the white dagger challenge questions are too easy and really have nothing to do with Twilight… For example, you win the challenge if you roll the die and get a 2 or above. This means you have a 5 in 6 chance of winning the challenge. There are “Story” cards that opponents can play to add or subtract numbers to a die roll; but again, the instructions are not clear on how to use these cards. Last, the overall quality of this product is low. The game pieces are basically slips of paper that you insert in a stand. The cards are not sturdy and easily bendable. In addition book fans will be disappointed to learn that the questions in the game are based on the movie – you will find contradictions! If you must buy this game – know that you are not getting quality.
When will we wake up. It’s about time people admitted that this is the worst board game ever invented.
Totally devoid of anything needed to win other than luck of the die this game is about roll and move… roll and move… repeat.
Eventually people will begin to trade, if you do not the game will never end. Someone will trade something they shouldn’t have, and the dice will then (eventually) cause that person to lane on something they can not pay for. Where is the skill, where is the fun?
Let’s add to this that the great time of a game can take 4 to 5 hrs to finish. Features player elimination so that a few of the people will have to sit around and watch the game grind to an end or maybe find something else to do for a few hours.
Why do people keep buying this? There are better games. Much better games exist out there. These games involve thinking, and can be finished in less than 2 hours. You can find them by going to Google and searching on “board game”.
Think about LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game: Up before you buy this stinker.
Great time!. We played this game on Thanksgiving for the firt time. We had a marvelous time! It is geared more for adults the small children. Although children can surprise you sometimes. It is great when you have a crowd of people playing. It is fast and EASY to learn. I would highly recomend this game to anyone who wants to have a great time!
Scrabble on Speed. I find the game stimulating and so different from other games I’ve played. I am most skilled verbally (but math scares the hell out of me), and this game is a challenge because Scrabble Slam Deluxe Card Game is played with only 4 letter words, so vocabulary is not of much concern. I like it for me as an elder citizen (62 y/o) because I feel it keeps me verbally alert at an important time in my life to do that. I like it a lot because I can play with my friends and my 5 & 6 year old great-nieces. Also, it is very compact and can easily be played on a plane or in a car, etc. Anyone can play and most everyone will enjoy its fast paced structure, ease for all ages, and super-easy to take it along when traveling. Plus, it will keep the kids occupied, adults can play with kids, and it will keep adults occupied as time flies by! Even though I have good verbal skills, I am not the winner in at least 3/4 of the games I play. I can write, I know words, and think/speak well “on my feet,” but I am just not as fast as many others! They love that!!
another topic:
One of my friends and I play regular Scrabble just about every time she can get here or I can to her home (we live over 25 miles apart) and we started keeping count, and use a steno pad for keeping record of each game. We are up to #125. We had many more games before we started this steno pad, keeping the pages numbered. Some might say we’re a bit obsessive/compulsive but we just keep on playing. Both of us experience what we call “Jonesing” for a game after about 4 days without playing!
