This is my first GPS watch – and I’ve been using my Forerunner 305 for 10 weeks (training for my first marathon). I had no idea I’d love it as much as I do – and now I can’t imagine ever wanting to run without it.
(1)The device setup was quick and easy.
(2)The data it collects easily uploads to my Mac.
(3)I charge the battery once a week.
My favorite things about it:
-User-friendly interface
-Helps me understand my pacing in real-time (I have always run alone, so this understanding is new for me)
-Can run the distances prescribed in my training plan whether I’m familiar with a geographical area or not (i.e. when traveling for business)
The things that bug me most (but aren’t deal-breakers):
-Wish the heart rate display could be bigger (the heart rate display is tiny compared with all other stats displayed)
-Wish I could add another element to the display – the current time. [Currently, I choose to display elapsed time, heart rate, pace, distance traveled.]
-Sometimes, it takes more than a few minutes to connect to a satellite. Most of the time the connection happens within a minute, though.

This is surprisingly good for the money, but I’d personally go with a $10 cord from Amazon. They have a lower gauge wire (the lower the gauge, the thicker and better the quality) which is much more durable for $10. That being said, I’ve been careful not to bend and bump this cord and it’s help up for a year, so far. I’d say this is not for someone with kids or for any with someone clumsy in the family.
